Camps

Introduction

In scouting one of the most interesting things we do is the camps. All of the pictures used throughout this website have been from the camps that we have done. There are lots of different camps that we go on. There are some camps that we do every year at a similar time. These are summer camp, a week long camp during Late July - Early August. The other is frost camp which is 3 days over a long weekend. Both of these camps give us a wide variety of activities to do. I will talk about this later in this section. Then, throughout the year there are lots more camps that happen in the year. In the past we have done: radio camp (where we learnt how to properly use radios and got a licence), cycling in France (Over 4 days we cycled around Normandy one of the best camps I have done) and another where we want kayaking on the river Thames. All of these camps are very interesting and very different from each other.

Summer camp is one of the best camps you do in scouting. You spend an entire week (you can go for less time if you wanted to) on a scout camp doing a wide variety of different activities. We went to the beach one day, did a lot of bushcraft and slept in hammocks. It is a great camp that you can do loads of interesting things on and do things you have never done before.

Scout about is a camp that happens once every 4 years so, you should do at some point in your scouting experience. It is when all of the scouts in surrey meet up into one massive camp. Last time (which was 2024 at the time of writing this) more than 6000 scouts attended this camp. You get to meet loads of new people and enjoy so many different things. It is one of the best camps that you can do and I remember this one very well.
